BIOGRAPHY

Jan Owen has worked in the patent law field for over 13 years, drafting and prosecuting patent applications over a range of technologies.  These technologies include telecommunications, machine learning, image processing, object detection, RFID devices, User Interfaces, augmented and virtual reality, and data security.  Jan has also drafted and prosecuted patent applications across a variety of jurisdictions.

Prior to working in the patent law field, Jan worked for 17 years as an R&D engineer for Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies.  As an R&D engineer, Jan helped develop one-box testers for mobile phone manufacturers in the cellular industry.  More particularly, Jan worked as a Digital Signal Processing Engineer, and, as part of a team, helped implement real-time demodulation of over-the-air signals, integrate and support real-time data delivery across multiple subsystems for maintaining a wireless link, and develop algorithms for measuring signal quality.  Her development experience includes embedded systems, real-time processing, multi-threaded environments, and multi-processor systems.

Over the past years, Jan has volunteered as a driver for Meals on Wheels, a program that provides hot meals to house-bound adults.
