James Bennin's practice focuses on Intellectual Property matters, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the U.S. and foreign jurisdictions. James has represented various clients in a wide variety of technical fields, including wireless telecommunication, databases, graphical user interfaces, business methods, printer technologies, input technologies and input guessing technologies, software, and web-based applications. He has also conducted patentability investigations, and prepared freedom-to-operate validity opinions. Furthermore, James has also served as a managing associate where he managed the prosecution of foreign applications for clients in various foreign jurisdictions (including Asia and Europe).
Prior to joining Harrity & Harrity, LLP, James was an intellectual property attorney at Alston & Bird LLP. While in law school, he was a member of the Education Law Journal and a summer law clerk with a patent firm in Alexandria, VA.
